Insurance Payment Information - COVID-19

With the current global pandemic, many Americans have been left without their jobs, and most do not have a paid sick leave option. We know this makes it difficult to pay your everyday bills, especially when the rest of the world seems to be at a halt.

We are watching for companies who release information regarding the billing of your insurance policies. This post will continue to be updated as new companies release info regarding your payments.

Progressive

If your employment and income have been directly affected by the situation, please call 877-776-2436. Service representatives are ready to help with billing and payment issues, including the possible movement of billing due dates. Service teams are available 24/7, and you always have access to your policy information any time through online servicing.

The Hartford

The Hartford will help any client who is having financial difficulty because of COVID-19. Clients are encouraged to contact the applicable service area listed here for help with billing or payment issues. If you contact The Hartford directly, they will provide you assistance. The following are the steps they are taking:

  • Suspending Cancellations for Non-payment until May 1, 2020 and the Hartford will not be assessing late fees for premiums due on or before May 1, 2020.

  • We hope this grace period will help give our customers the breathing room needed to weather this crisis. This suspension will be revisited based on the facts and circumstances that develop over the next five weeks.

  • The Hartford will continue to comply with any directives issued by state departments of insurance on billing issues.

Grinnell Mutual

Grinnell is implementing a premium payback program for its policyholders. Including the premium payback, here are all the steps being taken:

  • Premium payback of $30 to all personal auto policyholders that apply.

  • Reclassification of school-permit drivers for premium savings.

  • Vacant buildings clause will have leniency for small businesses in certain circumstances.

  • Restaurant delivery coverages are now available for businesses in need of short-term hired and non-owned auto delivery coverage.

  • Moratoriums on cancellations or non-renewals on all policies through at least June 30, 2020.

More details on each of Grinnell’s policies put in place can be found here.

This post will continue to be updated as we hear from our companies.
